Press/Video: NYCC – Andrew Lincoln says ‘big deaths’ are coming

EW – Uh-oh. If you thought we were done with major characters dying off on The Walking Dead after the brutal last season, you thought wrong. It seems we will be losing some favorite faces since again in season 8, which kicks off Oct. 22 on AMC.

That’s according to series star Andrew Lincoln, who dropped the bombshell at a SiriusXM The Walking Dead Town Hall taping Saturday afternoon (hosted by yours truly and airing on Entertainment Weekly Radio, channel 105, at 6 p.m. ET on Thursday, Oct. 19).“There’s some big deaths this season, just to warn everybody,” said Lincoln.

Press: The Walking Dead cast on season 8: Rick’s got ‘his strut back’

EW – “This is the weirdest Walking Dead panel I’ve ever been a part of,” Jeffrey Dean Morgan remarked to the crowd gathered at New York Comic Con on Saturday.

He was responding specifically to all the fans referencing his old character on Grey’s Anatomy, but the Theater at Madison Square also heard talk of shipping Jesus (Tom Payne) and Daryl (Norman Reedus), another fan interrupting Austin Amelio to shout his disdain for Dwight, talk of a crossover with Fear the Walking Dead, and host Chris Hardwick turning #SexyA—hole into his new hashtag, thanks to a brutally misquoted audience shoutout. But, as evidenced by the cheers drowning out some of the chatter on stage and footage shown on screen, the fans are ready for season 8 and the cast thinks they have something worthwhile.

The Walking Dead took a turn for the worse in terms of Rick’s reality on the show, in terms of critical reception, and in terms of ratings. But heading into the season 8 premiere, which marks the AMC drama’s 100th episode, Andrew Lincoln feels the show is more like what it was in the beginning.

“Season 7 sucked for Rick Grimes, but season 8, he’s definitely getting his strut back,” the actor told the roaring crowd. “We’ve got the gang back together, I’m working with a few of my special buddies,” he teased before adding, “It’s reminiscent of seasons 1-4.” Then he offered another oddball moment of the night by doing his best Napoleon Dynamite dance for the crowd.

Press: Jeffrey Dean Morgan wants Negan backstory episode

EW – Negan made quite the entrance in the season 6 finale of The Walking Dead, and then spent season 7 terrorizing our heroes. But actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan tells EW that we’re going to see more sides to the big bad in season 8, which premieres Oct. 22 on AMC. “We’re going to start seeing slivers of who this guy is beyond the brutality that we saw in season 7,” says Morgan. “The most fascinating stuff that I’ve got to do this year is seeing behind the leather jacket.”

Not that he’ll be that different. “He’s still going to be a big f—ing dick,” the star says with a laugh. We spoke to Morgan to get some scoop on what to expect coming up, and while looking into the future, he expressed a desire to also dig deeper into Negan’s past.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: We’ve seen Negan when he’s firmly in power and in charge. But what kind of Negan are we going to see now in the throws of war, when the kids in the schoolyard start standing up to the bully?

JEFFREY DEAN MORGAN: Well, you know, I don’t look at it quite the same way. I don’t know that Negan really sees himself as the bully in this circumstance. I think what’s interesting about this year — for me and for Negan — is that we’re going to start seeing slivers of who this guy is beyond the brutality that we saw in season 7.

My favorite episode last year was where I got to do some stuff with Chandler Riggs [who plays Carl], where you can start to see little glimpses of Negan and who he is as a man and not just this guy swinging a big bat around. We’re going to find some more things about Negan, which I think are fascinating. I think the audience is going to really kind of dig it too.

But you don’t see him as a bully?
